KATflow 180

Ultrasonic flowmeter for gases

Product Description

INTERVENTION-FREE FLOW MEASUREMENTS FROM AMMONIA TO XENON

The new ultrasonic flow meter for gases KATflow 180 was developed to offer reliable measurement results across a wide range of applications: from measurements under high pressure to applications where clamp-on ultrasonic flow meters were previously considered unsuitable due to low pressures. In contrast to other measuring devices, the KATflow 180 can be installed on metal gas pipes where the pressure is well below the recognized minimum of five bar, and measurements can even be carried out successfully under atmospheric conditions. This unique innovation was made possible by advances in sensor technology as well as powerful, sophisticated electronics, adaptive filtering methods and novel signal processing algorithms based on digital signal processors (DSPs).

With the KATflow 180, flow measurements of gaseous media can be carried out at flow velocities of 0.1 to 75 m/s. Progressive sensing enables both shear and Lamb wave measurements with just a few sensor types, reducing complexity and costs. The device is intended for permanent use in protected and potentially explosive areas of zones 1 and 2 and is available in two robust housing versions - epoxy-coated aluminum or stainless steel. The flow meter's keypad can be easily operated from the outside with a magnetic pen for increased security. The KATflow 180 is suitable for use on all commercially available pipe materials with pipe diameters from 25 to 1500 mm. With the clamp-on flow meter for gases, Katronic reaches the culmination of many years of development in the field of ultrasonic measurement technology.
